IAM members, officers and staff now have a central location to find economic data in sectors important to our union. The IAM Strategic Resources Department built an interactive map showing data from every U.S. or Canadian state, province, territory and major city.
The site contains information on how jobs and wages have changed since 2000 in sectors including transportation, manufacturing and warehousing. It also shows how housing costs have changed, especially since the 2008 Great Recession. The data is compiled from the U.S. Federal Reserve, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Statistics Canada.
The site was developed by Administrative Secretary Kristen Goble and Strategic Resources Department Intern Elias Alsbergas. Senior Research Economist Taz Hurst supervised the project.
