IAM Local 700 members in Middletown and IAM Local 1746 in East Hartford, CT voted overwhelmingly to accept a new 5.5 year contract with Pratt & Whitney.
The agreement, passed by a vote of 1,691 to 385 on Sunday, gives the 2,600 IAM members annual raises of 2.5 percent as well as $6,500 in bonuses.
“Our members delivered a message impossible to ignore,” said District 26 Assistant Directing Business Representative Mike Stone. “The company’s proposals attacking job security protections, new job descriptions covering entry level work, and a myriad of attacks on our contract language, were met with a resounding thunder in the shops from IAM Members reacting to the news from the bargaining table. Management had no choice but to respond accordingly.”
“My thanks, and congratulations go out to the Negotiating Committee along with everyone in District 26,” said Eastern Territory General Vice President Jimmy Conigliaro, Sr. “Putting together the pieces necessary to undertake these difficult negotiations, and the preparation required is no small task. The results are in the outcome.”
