Update on government glitch that threatens livelihoods of IAM-NFFE police officers

Filipe De La Cruz, a police officer at Camp Pendleton and a loyal IAM-NFFE member, was at the Winpisinger Center Training Center in Maryland. He gave the Machinist Union’s communications department an update about a heavily publicized accounting error by the U.S. government that devastated his local lodge. Civilian police officers at the Marine installation in California, who’re proud members of NFFE-IAM Local 919, were notified in April 2017 that the an eight-year payroll glitch had resulted in the overpayment of more than 120 active and retired officers. The Department of Defense’s Finance and Accounting Services office allegedly used an incorrect locality-based pay rate from 2008 to 2016. Some police officers were ordered to pay at least $75,000.
